Help Stop Bill C-7 (Medical Assistance in Dying)
The federal government has been given an extension to February 26, 2020 to pass amendments to the Criminal Code that will make Medical Assistance in Dying (“MAID” or euthanasia) more accessible, putting the disabled and elderly at risk of having their lives terminated, possibly without their full consent. Please read the CCCB’s response and contact your MP. More information and details on how to do that are here https://dol.ca/.../update-on-bill-c-7-medical-assistance...
Updates from the Pastor's Pen
Merry Christmas everyone! Unfortunately with the province-wide lockdown from Dec 26 until at least January 23, we will not be having public masses. The mass for New Year's and Sundays we will be posting on our website and Facebook page.
The bishop is permitting baptisms, weddings and funerals without mass at this time for a maximum of 10 people in the church including the priest. All regular meetings and social gatherings have been cancelled for this time as well. The already booked mass intentions for during this closure with be offered by the priests in daily private masses.
Let us continue to pray for and support one another, remembering Jesus's words "In this life you will face difficulties but take courage, for I have conquered the world" (Jn 16:33)
God bless you and all of your families!
Fr. Chris
Update from Fr. Chris...
Bishop Fabbro has announced that effective January 1, 2021, until the end of the pandemic, all persons claiming a medical exemption from wearing a mask must present a note from their doctor or they will not be permitted in the church buildings.
From the Pastor's Pen - Greetings from the Kent Lambton Roman Catholic Family of Parishes!
I hope you and your families are well in these challenging times.
Here are a few updates for your information.
We recently celebrated our First Holy Communion masses for last year's grade 2 children, and are in the process of celebrating the Sacrament of Confirmation for last year's grade 8 students, delayed from the spring due to the virus.
We are in the process of interviewing for a new pastoral minister following the recent retirement of Virginia Eade.
Our parish offices are now reopened. Bulletins are now available on-line and are posted on the church bulletin boards as well, but unfortunately we are not yet permitted to give out paper bulletins at the doors.
The bishop has extended permission for general absolution until Dec 24, so we have scheduled the following additional opportunities for that extraordinary form of the Sacrament of Reconciliation:
Tues Nov 3 6:10pm at Sacred Heart
Wed Nov 11 6:10pm at Our Lady Help of Christians
Thurs Nov 19 8:15am at St. Michael's
Fri Nov 27 8:30am at Holy Family
Thurs Dec 17 8:15am at St. Michael's
Fri Dec 18 8:30am at Holy Family
Tues Dec 22 6:10pm at Sacred Heart
Wed Dec 23 6:10pm at Our Lady Help of Christians
Let's continue to pray for one another and to keep reaching out to all those in need!
God bless.
Fr. Chris
